About the project

The “Zukunftsrot Metzeschmelz” (Council for the Future) has accompanied the long-term development of the new Metzeschmelz district since 2023 as a consultative citizens’ panel. Its aim is to integrate the perspectives of future residents and users into the planning process at an early stage while fostering dialogue between planners, political actors and society.

Through annual working cycles, participants engage deeply with different aspects of the district’s development, including public space, mobility, mixed-use development and housing. The continuous collaboration creates a collective process of learning and reflection that accompanies and enriches the urban planning process.
