About the project
The City of Luxembourg wanted to re-open, refurbish and develop the area of “Mansfeld Park” located in Clausen district. The mission was that the public, but especially the local community had to profit more from the site.
The various specificities of the site made the project quite complex. It included ruins, former buildings of Mansfeld Castle, which had to be protected, but at the same time not be entirely excluded to visitors. The association “Amis de Mansfeld” was very enthusiastic about this part and supported the project actively. The historical part of the site had to be explained by facilities and information boards.
On the other hand, it had to avoided becoming exclusively an open-air museum, but open access to the inhabitants for recreation.

Objectives
The goal was to increase the use for inhabitants and trespassers, but also emphasizing the historical aspects and the visibility of the park
The project is still ongoing, and the City is open for suggestions and ideas for continuously improving the site.

Results and Added Value
Three workshops were organized and facilitated to identify frustrations, needs and solutions. The resulting reports and recommendations were integrated into the execution of the Mansfeld Park restoration in 2017.
